Our guest room aka The Desert Room has been pretty popular on Instagram and Pinterest.  And I’m not surprised at all.

Who wouldn’t want to relax in here?

There is one key missing item, a modern ceiling fan. This room gets so warm from the direct afternoon sunlight. During the summertime, it can get unbearable!

How many times have you considered a ceiling fan but stopped yourself because your impression of ceiling fans are from the 80s in your parent’s home?

Me too.

Truth be told, it’s been a little hard for me to commit to the right fan. I wanted something really special that leaned into the desert vibes. Yet not themey. You can imagine how hard that is to find!

Until now.

Modern Ceiling Fan: Desert Vibes

We added the fabulous Spider Rock fan from The Pendleton® Collection by Hunter® recently!

Before I go into the wonderful details. Here is some backstory:

Back in June last year, I got the opportunity to travel to  Austin, TX and meet up with the great folks at Hunter Fan Co.

I was able to witness their wonderful company and quality products. The greatest pleasure was seeing their wide range of styles for fans.

You know me, I am a tried and true modern girl with a love of the desert vibes all mixed together.

So when I saw their array of fantastic modern fans, well, I was in love!

It really helps to get to know who designs these products and have incredible conversations on how their design minds worked to produce these fans. During that trip, they mentioned an exciting possibility of a new design that they had in mind for my home. Little did I know that it was for my

Hunter Fan Co.ceiling fans that bring in the southwest and desert vibes to any home.!

Modern Ceiling Fan: Childhood Obsession

I first was introduced to Pendleton when I was 9 years old playing in my childhood best friend’s home. Her mother was obsessed with southwest vibes and had many Pendleton blankets and throws.

Since then, I have adopted the same love for the desert look. This is why I love Joshua Tree so much!

Fast forward to adulthood, every time I had a baby, my best friend gifted me a baby Pendleton blanket! How cute and meaningful is that?

Given the opportunity to incorporate  The Pendleton® Collection by Hunter® , my design heart is singing!

I had a hard time deciding which one to choose  because each design would go just as well into the Desert room.

In the end, I chose the Spider Rock pattern. It is neutral with just the right bold, black southwestern patterns that I have come to love from Pendleton.

The fan blades are actually reversible! So the other side of these are black with the same bold pattern.

I have never seen this offered in any other fan before! This suits any homeowner well because if you get tired of one look, all you have to do is flip the blades over!

As a serial home shuffler, I am delighted at this option!

Modern Ceiling Fan: Beautiful Blanket and Pillows

Of course with the added fan, it inspired me to refresh this room a bit. Elevating a space is always fun to do!

This room has stayed the same for awhile and I lacked inspiration for many months. The beauty of being creative is that the organic process always trumps anything forced.

So I have learned to be patient. Now look what we have!

I chose the Olympic National Park blanket in part because I love the colors in these stripes. But also I have grown up driving to the Olympic National Park with my family since as long as I can remember. We would take weekend camping trips here and the wonderful family memories are endless!

Intentionally designing your home with special memories is essential in creating a very lived in authentic haven. With the oversized art of the Oregon coast where Pendelton calls home, this room has become a hybrid of my Pacific Northwest roots and love affair with the Desert.

This is all thanks to my new fan from the The Pendleton® Collection by Hunter® ! Amazing right?

I also loved mixing the Pendleton pillows with my bedding. It is perfectly neutral with the quintessential southwest pattern that is consistent with the rest of the room.

Modern Ceiling Fan: Summer Heat

Spring is the best season to refresh your home and add functionality! It also is prime time to get your house ready for the summer heat.

Even if you do not live in an area with high temps, it is so nice to leave the fan running with fresh air instead of air conditioning.

Nothing beats an open window early in the morning with the fan going on in here! I absolutely love bringing in organic elements into my home. It feels invigorating and through our Hunter Fan Co. Pendleton fan, this mission definitely has been accomplished.
