By now you probably know that I love white – there are so many shades that convey depth and warmth and make details pop and highlight the good things and gloss over the bad.
But a white sofa?
That sounds pretty crazy in a busy household but not impossible!
Can a white sofa survive in a family room?
I’ve always loved the aesthetics of a white sofa. The look is so clean and crisp and it’s the perfect background for any seasonal changes in decor without breaking the bank.
But my main concern obviously has always been upkeep. In my mind, i imagined a perfectly stark white stiff sofa with severe lines that would show every single little mark.
What I didn’t realize back then was that just there are many definitions of white sofas much like shades of white paint.
In my case, I chose a light beige slightly heathered version by Jonathan Louis. They design and manufacture all kinds of sofas but this one stole my heart!
Their website offers fabric swatches so that you can easily see if the color or texture goes well in your space.
After much contemplation, I chose the Caso sofa in Malibu Linen because it still reads white but can weather my family’s wear and tear.
Let the California Cool vibe stay in this space forever!
Oh and guess what? I originally saw this in a sectional version on Justina Blakeney’s Instagram page!
Luckily for me, Jonathan Louis also now makes a sofa version. It is deep seated goodness for all the memorable family memories created in here.
Size does matter
So, besides the many shades of whites and patterns to choose from, the other consideration is the profile and depth of the sofa.
I’m sure it’s the same for you but comfort is key for my family.
We love to snuggle up and have family movie nights. Or the girls like to play board games sprawled out as comfy as can be on weekends.
So making sure that the sofa had a nice deep seat was important.
I also looked for a lower profile because my family room is not super huge and this creates the illusion of a larger space.
Once I had my main attraction, the rest of the show fell into place.
I moved over the glass coffee table and surveyed my choices of textiles.
I decided on a neutral throw and my striped pillows with a few fun ones in the mix.
Perfect for the Holidays
Another added bonus for a neutral sofa? It can easily translate any holiday you are celebrating in your home!
The best holidays for white sofas are during the winter holiday season. The clean white tones makes any greenery or festive colors pop!
I am so excited to have our new Jonathan Louis sofa this season. What’s your favorite in here? Did you know you can visit a local Jonathan Louis retailer and see first hand which sofa you would like to own next?
I hope you enjoyed my family room refresh with our new amazing sofa. It truly has elevated the look in here.
More importantly it has elevated the functionality for us and that speaks volumes!
