Whee! First week of June and we are kicking it off in a huge way! Today, is the backyard patio furniture reveal!  

In the past, our tired teak dining table was stuck on the right side of the yard. In addition, we lacked seating for just an outside “let’s lounge” area. All that has changed! Read on to find out all the details on our completed backyard transformation for Summer 2019.

Outdoor Furniture

Prior to the backyard makeover projects, our patio furniture was quite neglected. Our once lovely teak dining table and chairs seemed tired and disinviting. And we never had the space to add lounge chairs and tables because the kids were so little. Basically, it was a Little Tykes play area, and that is how it should be!

There is a season for every home and I don’t regret making the best of it with the cutest Little Tykes picnic table, slides and toys.

But, now the time has come to add a lounge area for my teenage daughter’s friends to come over and hang out. Summer is the best time to chill with friends  and make s’mores under the stars don’t you think?

When I set out to design the flow of the backyard, I clearly had a vision to add a lounge area. Recently, I found out that JoyBird Furniture has an outdoor furniture line. I was amazed! The fun mid-century design was exactly what I was looking for.

The sofa, side chairs and coffee table are  extremely weather durable, yet inviting and stylish.

And, it doesn’t take up a lot of space. Here you can see that all of it fits onto an 8×10 rug.

I definitely think the Joy Bird outdoor patio furniture is not only great for average-sized backyards, but for small space yards or balconies as well!

Because it is low profile and sleek, it gives a very clean and modern look. Something you definitely want in a small space.

Additional Seating Corner

Just as a living room needs a corner sitting area, so does the backyard!

Joy Bird offers this Lido outdoor lounge chair and ottoman  and my family of 5 were all fighting for it. It is comfy and very nap inducing.

We can’t wait to watch backyard movie nights with this chair.

The cushions are extraordinarily thick and comfy. It felt so good to sink into on a warm afternoon with lemonade and my favorite book.

Outdoor Dining Table and Chairs

As I mentioned before, the old teak dining set with faded sun umbrella didn’t beckon us to come outside.

Now that I have put the dining table to the left of the yard, it flows much better.

Recently, we had a small get together here for my middle daughter’s Girl Scout troop and this space was a godsend!

The incredible part is that I didn’t think we would have room for a dining area fit for 6!

This new table from JoyBird comfortably seats 6 adults and the mid-century modern style makes me very happy.

I automatically felt myself wanting to host friends and family more often. I haven’t felt this way about the backyard in years!

Summer Living

As summer is just beginning, I’m certain you are searching for ways to get outside more.

Travis and I are so proud of ourselves! This was our first major outdoor DIY backyard transformation.

From the painted cement pad, to the lime wash brick and of course the MCM fence, we didn’t give up.

Even though the weather wasn’t our typical sunny conditions, we still kept on going and it was WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
