I have been searching a very long time for the perfect accent chair.
I am also a huge fan of the Australian minimalist boho style and when I saw Barnaby Lane’s Smith Chair.
My design heart leaped 10 feet in the air!
I have seen similar designs on Instagram and design magazines. Never did I think I would own one in my home!
Why is this the perfect accent chair?
As you are drooling over this chair, I am going to share a few reasons why this chair is perfect!
First, blush is the amazing feminine/soft tone for any space. Never thought you would want pink in your home?
I challenge that thought! *wink*
Even for the holidays, blush is such a wonderful complementary soft contrast. Then in the spring and summer, it brings warm vibes to your home as well.
Second, Barnaby Lane has exquisite quality and workmanship in each furniture piece they make.
The wood is soft and smooth to the touch. The leather is supple and once you sit in it, you are so relaxed, it is very difficult to get up!
Even the leather ties on the chair legs leaves me completely smitten. I just love design touches like these!
Third, the minimalist design has me swooning forever about this chair. It is no secret how much I love the Scandinavian minimalist look. But I find that the Australian minimalist look is just as beautiful!
One day I would love to visit Australia not only for the beautiful landscape, friendly people but for the interior design as well.
Accent Chair Placement
A question that I often get asked is where one place the accent chair. My answer is anywhere that a seat is needed!
This is the fun part of the accent chair’s role in your home. It serves as dual purpose function. First this is the opportunity to turn up or down the tones and vibes of the room through the chair. If your sofa is neutral and quite understated then the chance to add color and pattern would be through the accent chair.
If your sofa and room is visually loud already, adding a neutral yet sophisticated chair like the Smith could be your secret sauce to the room.
I am also obsessed with filling up every nook and cranny with a chair or stool. As much as you may feel it is cramped, with a well proportioned chair or stool, the awkward space instantly becomes functional and warm.
A trick that you can learn is to always angle a accent chair off of a corner or wall with shelves behind it. Very much like this picture above.
Barnaby Lane
I hope today’s discussion about accent chairs like the Barnaby Lane The Smith has given you all the motivation to find a space in your home for it.
I guarantee you will not regret it!
Happy day!
Perhaps you could write a post on minimalist accent chairs that don’t cost 1k+? I’m sure I’m speaking for many when I say our family doesn’t have that budget…at least not for a single chair.
It’d be great to hear about a similar chair at a lower cost.
Thanks!
There are so many on Wayfair and All Modern!
