Last night was our first rain fall complete with thunder and lightning! Living here in Socal means we are quite spoiled by the warm sunshine. I don’t know what has gotten into me this year but I have been longing for fall weather since August.
Now that it’s finally here, I am SO ready to decorate my home to match the cooler temps and holiday accents.
Fall Styling at Home
I absolutely adore styling my home between the months of October and January. It is so festive and cozy!
I went through many years of design drought especially when my kids were all under 5. I was way too tired to think about wall decor or pillows and throws. The holidays were focused around them and rightly so.
Now that they are getting older, the balance of styling my home for both kids and adults are finally converging.
Here are a few ideas that you can easily translate to your home too!
Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins
Who doesn’t love a variety of colorful and textured pumpkins? Nature offers the best decor in our homes. Not only does it bring that earthy, organic Fall feel into our living rooms, it also adds colors and texture you can’t replicate in textiles.
My favorite pumpkins are the white heirloom. They add a sense of elegance and the neutral tone will complement any space!
I loved adding a variety of the heirloom pumpkins onto my shelving. It took me a hot second to decide which ones belongs where and it was all done! Easy Peasy styling is the name of my game. It should be yours too!
Family Gatherings with Harry and David
Food is an integral part of our family gatherings. I imagine it is the same with you and your family!
Growing up, my family was obsessed with the Harry and David Tower of Treats. We literally devoured them in one night. It was our annual tradition to order one for the holidays as a family treat. And let me tell you, the anticipation and excitement when the box finally arrived at our door was insane!
This year I decided to start the tradition with my own little tribe. I let the girls pick what they wanted to eat from the Harry and David Gourmet collection. After some deliberation amongst themselves (after all there are over 200 yummy items to choose from), the girls picked the Maple Pumpkin Layer Cake, the Elegant Entertaining Appetizer Assortment, and the Ultimate Charcuterie and Cheese Collection.
Their new cheese from Rouge Creamery was especially yummy!
We loved how easy it was to instantly turn a regular family gathering into something delectable and special. I had to tell them to slow down on eating everything just to catch a few shots of them here!
I truly am so grateful we had this time together to savor the Harry and David Gourmet Collection. It really made me feel so warm and happy that I could now create the same lovely family memories we had growing up. How special is that?
With the holidays coming up, I anticipate many more get togethers with friends and family. With my current busy working schedule, I want to plan ahead. As I was ordering for my own family, I was happy to see a range of goodies that would fit all budgets from $10-400. So whether you just want a small treat for yourself to a huge fanfare, Harry and David Gourmet Collection products will not break your bank! So I ordered additional items from Harry and David Gourmet Collection. They are in my freezer staying fresh until I need them. This way I don’t have to stress last minute! I love the fact that I can elevate my entertainment but without the stress.
Holiday Tablescape
Along with great food, a beautiful tablescape provides a wonderful backdrop to any special gathering.
I love using delicious food with wood serving elements like a rustic dough bowl and of course fruit!
I also find cake pedestals extremely helpful in giving height to any tablescapes. One thing I have learned over the years is that varying heights is extremely important! Visually it turns something flat into a 3D view.

You can use boxes under tablecloths as well. Amazon also sells risers that eliminate hunting for the just the right size boxes. This is a staging trick too. *wink*
Another organic item I’m totally obsessed with are eucalyptus branches. There are two types of Eucalyptus and I love them both. One is the seeded Eucalyptus and the other is more round shaped leaves hence the name silver dollar Eucalyptus.
I really love them equally because they add a sense of style in a subtle different manner. So often times it gives me an option to style with it in a unique way.
If I want a clean look with not as much visual texture but still retain the classic fall vibe, I use the silver dollar. It is what you see most on beautiful home images.
However the seeded version adds a sense of depth and dimension from the seeds. So that is why I like using it in a case where I feel the space is falling flat.
You can see both examples on the console table above. You can’t go wrong with either really!
I am so excited to start entertaining more and I hope these tips help ignite a party for your home soon too!
