Did you know my secret woven shades blog is my top blog post? You’ll definitely  want to read on today about why I chose The Shade Store woven shades in my new bathroom!

Woven shades are my first love to accent any window because it has a raw texture that reminds me of a  rugged coast or sandy beach. This doesn’t mean you have to have a coastal design to enjoy their organic features.

I have been using The Shade Store in my own home and  client designs for at least 7 years now. I love the quality and myriad of designs and shades.

The Shade Store really leans into the modern, yet clean look. You know how much I love those two things!

Master Bathroom Reveal: What Color to Choose?

Even though  I knew I wanted woven shades here, it didn’t  mean I was done. There are so many design directions you can go with.

I had 4 samples to choose from. The first two options are from the Hamptons collection.

This collection is your classic, woven shades texture in a variety of neutral colors. It is a no-fail choice. My hesitation was that the Hamptons-1 was perhaps too light and became washed out.

The Hamptons-2 is your quintessential woven shades, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too yellow in my white and black-toned bathroom?

My third sample was Seaview-6. I loved the color as it was just enough organic beige and grey. The texture was stronger and more raw. This leaned too far  into a coastal feel for me and I wasn’t sure that’s what I wanted for my bathroom.

And, my fourth sample was Duneville-1.

I loved the clean and fresh white color with very little raw texture. It had texture, but very subtle and soft. However, with my floor-to-ceiling white subway tile walls, would it even be noticed? What was my design intention here? If I didn’t want any attention drawn to the windows, this would be the choice.

In the end, I decided that going with the classic Hampton-2 would be my best bet for the space.

So for your space, here are a few questions to  ask:

  1. What do I want to achieve? Make the windows a design focus or have it be a subtle layer of warmth and coziness?
  2. What kind of texture do I want? Something raw and organic, or soft and subtle?
  3. Pattern or solid? If it’s fabric Roman shades, do you want a fun or classic pattern? Or, something solid to block the light and stay practical.

Master Bathroom Reveal: Fabric Shades

At one point, I did consider fabric Roman shades for the windows. This is where I think The Shade Store is set apart from other companies. The choice of patterns and colors in a very refined, modern aesthetic is incomparable.

Other competitors may try to copy the same look, but they have the real deal. You know what I am talking about, right? When it looks like something high-end, but it’s missing that zhush.

The Shade Store window treatments definitely have zhush!

Here are some fabric patterns I think would work well for a clean, modern bathroom:

  1. I love anything and everything linen. So the luxe linen collection really caught my eye. It’s an elevated look, but also very inviting. Not stiff at all.

I would choose the Oatmeal

 or Ciel options.

2) If you are looking for a pattern, then I suggest the Korinthos collection in the Fleck, Aloe or Seaspray.

Fleck

Aloe

Seaspray

I love the textural pattern, yet it’s smooth and clean.

Master Bathroom Reveal: Automated Awesomeness

You have heard me talk about putting your dreams out into the Universe. And for me, I never thought my dream to motorized shades would come true in my bathroom. But it makes total sense!

The two windows were always quite awkward to pull open because I literally had to climb into the tub to open and close.

So you guessed it, it remained closed for most of the time. And, the space was already dark enough.

Now, with the remote control and varying option of one or both windows going up or down, we can have as much light and/or privacy as we need!

Take a look at my video I made for the Shade Store:

Just like the title in this section, the automated shades truly mean Automated Awesomeness. It may seem like a first-world problem but in this case there is  the importance of wellness at home too. Living with something dysfunctional for 10 years can drive anyone batty!

The addition of The Shade Store wood woven shades with full motorization is truly the icing on the cake for me.

I never imagined that I would have the functionality for these windows. I have a confession: since the new space is so light and happy and zen like, I have been sitting on the bathroom floor for meditation with the window as my front and center view.

Framed with the new shades and just seeing beautiful green trees makes for an inspiring spa bathroom. It truly is gorgeous and induces gratitude beyond measure.

So after all this, what is my point? I love using woven shades to create  a relaxed mood in a bathroom. I definitely encourage you to consider it as well! And, if you can add the motorized function, I say go for it! It definitely is a game changer.

Happy day!
