It’s been a hot and sweaty summer and to be honest, I am SO ready to get out of dodge and take a break from our regularly programmed life here in Sunny SoCal.
The whole family is meeting up with my parents, sister and her family to board the Disney Cruise to Alaska!

We have been on several family cruises to Alaska on various cruise lines but with 5 kids under 12, we thought this year we would try Disney!
Needless to say we are all VERY excited!!!
Travel Tips to Alaska Cruise
- Pack layers of clothing for you and your family. A trip to Alaska is obviously very different from going to a warm tropical location. The focus is mainly on beautiful scenery and wildlife. Annnnd glaciers. So having long sleeve t shirts, fleece jackets, rain jackets and other items like a beanie hat or scarf to layer easily is essential! Here’s a look at what I am bringing!
This Patagonia Women’s Better Sweater is so warm and chic at the same time. I am so excited to layer this on for an excursion or a walk into town.
And being in Alaska, you think lumberjack chic, so a plaid button down is a must! Isn’t this J Crew Plaid shirt cute? It’s another perfect layering tool!
2. Bring durable, comfortable hiking and/or boots. Most likely, your excursions will include a few small or big hikes through the wilderness (and maybe even through snow!). Regular running shoes are ok, but for all weather terrain, hiking boots are more suitable. I got these Sorel rain boots recently and am so excited to travel in them. They are waterproof and comfy! 3. And last but not least, a rain jacket is another top priority wardrobe essential for this trip!

I hope I look as happy and relaxed on my upcoming trip too! It is a little different because we will have a full house – complete with 6 adults and 5 kids!
That’s what family trips are all about! There is always a bit of chaos, a lot of fun and adventure sprinkled with a few meltdowns that make the memories that much more unforgettable!
Happy day!
