Hey there! I don’t think I have written about window treatments on this blog yet. I just got woven shades installed in our master last week and it prompted me to give you some design tips and inspo for all things woven!
My mind is blown away whenever I see this window. When we first moved in it was covered by old wooden blinds. Then a few years ago they broke. So in a pinch, I ordered the same ones online.
Talk about regret! Don’t get me wrong, wooden blinds offer versatility beyond compare. You can have total privacy, semi-privacy or pull them all the way up.
Woven shades only gives you two choices: up or down. Ha!
However….the design look it gives wins over wooden blinds.

Just look at these inspo from my favorite designers.

You see that leather end table? Mark my words, someday I will have this in my home. It is way out of my budget but I will find something like it or win the lottery and be able to buy two for my room! Either way, they are my spirit animals and I need them in my design life!

I consider Amber Interiors the Queen of Woven Shades, in almost every space she designs with windows, you can bet your bottom dollar, woven shades are there.
And why would you argue? It is the perfect design every. time.
I hear you saying at this point, ok Anita, so what about your home? How have you incorporated woven shades?
Well, thank you for asking! *wink*
Woven Shades In My Home
I have always loved woven shades. Growing up we had woven roman shades in the kitchen but they were a bit too brown for my liking but the texture was on point.
When I put in roller shades for my own kitchen, I considered woven shades as well. But two things stopped me:
- The edges fray easily when they are moved multiple times a day, like in our kitchen.
- I had a hard time matching the look to the large window extraordinaire in the family room. Plus, it would weight a TON to pull that puppy up and down every day.
So instead we put woven shades in my oldest daughter’s room.
But what I really am excited about is how incredible they look in our new master bedroom makeover! Along with adding a window frame and baseboards, the new woven shades and drapery are on point to my design goal.
Here is a view of the shades in my bedroom workspace area. Don’t you just love it?
I am in love, love, love!
You want to know the best part? And this is *completely* unsponsored. I found these shades at a fraction of what a designer window treatment studio would charge. I am obsessed with The Shade Store but my budget just wouldn’t allow it.
Sometimes that is the best situation (albeit frustrating). It prompted me to do some research on affordable shades. I found this site and the quality compared to the designer shades were extremely comparable!

If you have windows that need new shades, consider woven shades for a clean and textured look. Love the Scandinavian or the California Casual vibe? This is definitely a top contender.
So on a scale of 1-10, what is your rating for my new bedroom? Coming soon is a full blog post on the makeover!
Happy day!

Can you point me to which shade you got and the color name? It’s hard to tell from the pictures online. Thanks!
natural linen!Good luck!
Hi Anita,
I love the blinds you chose. I went on the site and searched natural linen, but could only find ‘linen’ or ‘natural’ options, not natural linen. Could you post a link for the blinds? I have been trying to track down a woven shade dupe from the top designs we all love and have not had success. Thanks for finding one!
